What is the Taj Mahal known for?
The crown of the architectural ensemble that stretches along the bank of the Jamna River is the mausoleum, a mosque made of white marble with domes.
The mausoleum-mosque was built in honor of the wife of Shah Jahan (padishah of the Mughal Empire) - Mumtaz Mahal, who died at the birth of the fourteenth child. ShahI wanted to build a structure worthy of its beautyand their feelings for each other. The result of the works of thousands of masters, invited from different parts of the Empire, as well as from Persia, the Middle East and Central Asia, amazes the imagination of even sophisticated modern people.
Since 1983, the Taj Mahal is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is considered the best example of Mughal architecture, "the pearl of the Muslim heritage in India".
The marble, from which the Taj Mahal was built, has a feature - depending on the time of day you can observe a temple of different colors:
- white in the afternoon,
- pink at dawn and dusk,
- silvery - on a moonlit night.
Interior decoration, as well as externalsurrounding the Taj Mahal, striking with its brilliance. After all, the walls are encrusted with various stones, in which the rays of the sun or the moon are reflected. And outside the mausoleum-mosque there is a large pool that reflects Taj-Mahal in its waters.
