What is fed at the station in Tokyo
As soon as the train starts moving, people of any nationalities start unpacking road lunches. And the Japanese, they are decorated with special aesthetics and thoroughness. After all, it was here that the culture of takeaway bento originated. And from the variety of food shops, kiosks and bento shops in the Japanese railway stations just a head is spinning.
Long-living in the Land of the Rising Sun blogger Inga akamelon_pandademonstrated how they feed at Tokyo Station, and told the story of her lunch.
Well, all fed up? .. The other day I went on a business trip to Tokyo for one day. Usually, when I go, I always dream after having to do business in a fancy restaurant with a glass of champagne, and then have another cake as an afternoon ... As a result, like everyone, after a day of running around, not buying a minute, I buy a bento - lunch in a box - on station and, like everyone else, turn it around in the first seconds after the train starts to move. The railway bento, I consider, an obligatory point of the program, without it the trip is not considered - neither business, nor tourist. Not even the fact that it will be super tasty, but definitely interesting!
A box of food with you, purchased on the road at the station, is a whole cult in Japan. Exhibitions and sales of such dinners with dishes typical of different regions are periodically held in supermarkets in Japanese cities - you can not go anywhere, but go for groceries and buy exactly the same bento that you ate 5 years ago in Osaka or in Fukuoka. These are memories, little sentimentality, and business, whatever one may say.
At the entrance to the station of the big city, in the beginning there will definitely be a large gallery-gallery of souvenirs, pastry shops, bakeries and ready-made dinners - this is where the choice is the largest. If you are carried by and you have already reached the place where the directions are divided - on trains, subways, Shinkansen - there is still a chance to buy food, but if you have already found your platform and entered it, the choice of bento is reduced to one kiosk. But even there you can choose from several options of sandwiches, onigiri, 4-6 lunches.
It looks like a showcase with Tokyo dinners.
In this store the greatest choice.
A win-win for a child, it is usually not a question to throw out the box, although it is disposable.
I must say, it was an expensive lunch - 1580 yen, about 15 dollars. You can buy in two and a half times cheaper, it will not be worse, only the amount of microbread inside the box is smaller and not such a rich design.
Here the box was made of something like thin plywood, under a lacquer tree, and under the lid - not only a full menu listing, as in a restaurant, but also a wonderful retro-card with a retrovid that can be sent by mail. I would certainly have done so if I hadn't slapped her.
The food was very tasty, especially with hunger so in general - all these vegetables, mmm! Pay attention to the ratio of vegetables, rice and meat. The ball in the middle is a dessert, and I just did not eat it. It is a ball of mochi stuffed in starch and stuffed with bean. In it, I see only extra empty calories, especially after a hearty meal, IMHO, in general does not make sense.
Pumpkin, a piece of rankona - the lotus root, the holes of which are stuffed with meat, the same slice of the root, but without the filling, a spicy snack made from the root of burdock and carrot with sesame, another carrot, a piece of horse, a stalk of something.
