Car workshop from Gdansk still uses Commodore 64
Sometimes in order to work well and productively, it is not at all necessary to spend a lot of money on modern computers and office equipment. Indeed, why buy a cool and stuffed-up computer that literally shoots teraflops, if you are going, for example, to keep a customer base or accountancy on it? So the guys from a small auto repair shop located in the Polish city of Gdansk think the same. Therefore, they continue to use the good old Commodore 64 for everyday tasks. The release of such computers began 34 years ago.
Starikan is equipped with a powerful processor at that time with a frequency of 1 MHz. RAM in the basic configuration was already 64 kilobytes. Yes, the guys in this service station are also harsh, apparently. That's really who is not exactly chasing fashionable technological solutions and is not worried about the fact that he began to slow down the smartphone!
An unusual find was reported on the official Commodore on Facebook by company representatives:
“This C64C has been used in a small automotive workshop for 25 years and, despite the fact that it has survived the flood, the computer is still working!”
Personal computers were manufactured from 1982 to 1994, costing $ 600 and were very popular - over 12 years, more than 15 million of these legendary computers were sold. One of the reasons for the success was the aggressive policy of Commodore, which promoted its products not only through a network of authorized dealers, but also offered retail networks to its personal computers, which to a large extent spurred sales and strengthened Commodore's position in the market. Perhaps in one of these supermarkets the hero of this publication was bought.
