A teenager, whose fishing hut boat was picked up by strong winds, drifted in the Pacific Ocean for 49 days.

19-year-old Aldi Novel Adilang (Aldi Novel Adilang) was at sea in a specially equipped boat-hut, serving as a lure fish, just 125 km from North Sulawesi.

It all started in the month of July, when strong winds came and broke the anchor of the boat, after which the ship with a young man set off for a 2698-kilometer voyage, which lasted about 7 weeks.

His heavy adventure ended on August 31 in the waters of Guam, when Aldi, who was working on this swimming structure for 3 years, was able to send an emergency signal to the tanker “Arpeggio” passing nearby.

The guy did not think that he would manage to survive, and he always tried to turn to the Bible for help.

Note that his boat and not the boat at all, it is more a small gatehouse, which is installed on a raft, the bottom of which is equipped with buoys. In the sea, this design is fixed due to the long rope, coupled with the bottom with the help of an anchor.

So Aldi in the house afloat worked for 3 years. He was engaged in attracting fish with the help of lighting devices. While the guy was carrying the service, someone constantly sailed to him to replenish his provisions. But on July 14, strong winds broke off a worn rope, after which he and his gatehouse, supplied with very insignificant reserves of water and gas, set off to drift into the open sea.

According to the Indonesian Consul General in Osaka, Japan, Mirza Nurhidaya (Mirza Nurhidaya), the teenager was able to stretch his reserves for a full seven weeks.

“After he ran out of gas, he burned wooden fences to light the fire for cooking.”

“He drank, squeezing the water out of his clothes wetted by the sea,” said the consul general.

Being in the ocean, the teenager, in order to escape, with the help of a torn fabric, repeatedly attempted to draw attention to himself by passing ships.

The guy said that thoughts of death did not leave him, but in the most desperate moments he remembered his parents, who taught him to pray when it became very difficult, so he turned to his bible.

On August 31, off the coast of Guam, he saw a ship flying the flag of Panama, whose name was “Arpeggio”, which made him once again intensively wave a rag, but all his actions were unsuccessful.

True, then he still managed to tune his radio station to a frequency that allowed him to connect with the cargo ship and send an emergency signal to his command.

As a result, the vessel still responded and came to the aid of the exhausted guy. He was raised aboard, where he received all the necessary first aid, after he was taken to Japan for transfer to the consulate workers who arrived in Tokuyama on 6 September. And on September 8, the boy was sent back to his family back home.

“The story of Aldi is really dramatic, and we are grateful to everyone — the ship’s captain and the Japanese authorities — who helped Aldi’s return,” noted Mirza.
